The High Lake Tour

Château de Chillon, Lavaux & Cully

0 km
Départ · Le Bouveret
Where the Rhône meets the lake

The tour casts off from Le Bouveret's marina, at the eastern tip of Lake Geneva where the Rhône river empties into the lake. Reed beds and the twin peaks of the Dents du Midi frame the first minutes of the crossing.

5 km
Villeneuve & Château de Chillon
A castle rising straight out of the water

Just past Villeneuve, the shoreline delivers its first landmark: Château de Chillon, its turrets built directly on a rock at the water's edge. Immortalised by Lord Byron's “The Prisoner of Chillon,” it's best seen exactly as it appears here — from the deck of a boat.

10–18 km
Montreux · Clarens · Vevey
The Belle Époque riviera

The route hugs the Swiss Riviera: Montreux's palm-lined promenade and jazz-festival stages give way to the quieter waterfront of Clarens, before Vevey — Charlie Chaplin's adopted home town — opens onto a broad lakeside square.

22–28 km
Corsier · Chardonne · Chexbres
Climbing into vineyard country

Above Vevey the shore steepens, and hillside villages appear stacked above the water, their vines catching the afternoon light — the approach to Lavaux.

30 km
Cully & Grand Cru Dézaley
UNESCO's vineyard amphitheatre

The outbound leg ends beneath Cully and Chexbres, at the heart of the Lavaux terraces — nearly a thousand years of dry-stone walls and Chasselas vines, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape since 2007.

38.77 km
Return crossing
Straight back across open water

Rather than retracing the shoreline, the boat cuts directly back across the lake toward Le Bouveret, completing the loop.
